Why is the company called Beyond France?

The company is so called because contrary to common belief; vintage linen does not just come from France and in fact is available Beyond France! We travel across the whole of Europe sourcing linen and items to furnish the home. We consider ourselves a European company hence the .eu web address!

Is the linen French?

No, there is linen Beyond France! The linen we source is mainly Hungarian although we also buy different linens from across Europe.

Will the linen shrink?

There is natural shrinkage in unwashed linen, however we only supply washed linen so there should be no more shrinkage.

How do I care for linen?

At Beyond France, we spend a lot of time washing and Ironing Linen so these suggestions come from experience:

Washing linen
If Linen is heavily soiled, it can be washed at up to 60 ° with a 90° pre-wash. The Linen can also be sprayed or soaked with stain remover. To save energy and the environment do not wash hotter than necessary, 40° is sufficient for light soiling.

Dyed Linen should be washed at 40°, in a separate wash.
The Indigo colour is achieved by a natural dying process, which means there is natural colour fade

Drying and ironing linen
Linen is renowned for creasing. So, to minimise creasing and make ironing easier:

Iron linen when it still damp.

Use a tumble dryer to make the linen feel soft and easy to iron. Even a short blast in the dryer will make a difference.

Don't dry in summer sun as the linen fibres will dry like cardboard.

Don't leave dyed products in direct sunlight. If desirable natural linen can be lightened in the sun.

With all the natural variations, will I get the product I saw on the website?

Yes, the products available in the online shop will be those dispatched to customers, If you see something you like in the online shop, snap it up, as it may be the only one!

Every care is taken to ensure that the descriptions and specifications are appropriate to the individual items for sale.

We wash everything to be sure that the colours or designs don't run and any bad stains are removed. However these are vintage goods that may have been used before or have been in storage for a long time so there may be small marks that won't wash out. These just demonstrate the age of the items and we hope you can accept any small marks that our extensive washing procedures can't remove.

How will I know if the measurements are suitable?

The measurements will be listed for the pieces available in the online shop, so please check your requirements before ordering products. If you have special requirements or want further guidance please contact us and we will be happy to help.

What if I don't like the product I bought?
